Story Behind The Song
Tim's sailboat lay dormant after a great many years of sailing! He was a great sailor and loved the water! He was an excellent spearfisherman and could shoot mullet better than anyone i've ever seen! He said "You have to Lead them"! Ha! He was a class act and will be sorely missed!
This is what I believe to be Tim's best--and one of the best songs ever written!
Song Description
This is the best song my brother Tim ever wrote. While he is talking about a sailboat-the metaphor applies to his--and everybody's life in trying to get back something they have lost. We played this song for about 40 years up until his death in December of 2020 and it never failed to bring the house down. Playing without him makes me feel like Greg Allman must have felt when he lost brother Dwayne!

Lyrics
HELP ME GET MY SHIPS BACK TO THE WATER
HELP ME GET MY SHIPS BACK TO THE WATER
THEY'VE BEEN WITHOUT WIND MUCH TOO LONG
LET'EM SAIL TO THE EDGE OF THE WORLD
TILL ALL MY SEAS RUN DRY
YOU'RE MY INSPIRATION, A CLEAR DAY AND A STRONG BREEZE AHEAD!
WELL UNTIE ALL OUR ANCHORS, LEAN INTO THE WIND WITH EYES CLOSED AND GO
ON THE VOYAGE OF HAPPINESS--TO THE OCEAN OF LOVE!
lEAD (TERRY ON STEEL)
WELL UNTIE ALL OUR ANCHORS---YEAH I DIDNT DO IT FOR NOBODY ELSE
AND I'M GIVING ABOUT ALL I HAVE TO GIVE PLEASE NOW WONT CHA MAKE IT DO! PLEASE NOW WON'T YOU MAKE IT DO
